Terms of Use
Last updated 12 October 2026
The short version
- PaceMe gives you training guidance, not medical advice. Listen to your body and check with a doctor before you start.
- You must be 18 or older.
- Your data is yours. You can delete your account at any time.
- PaceMe is in a pilot. Things may change or break, and we'll fix them as fast as we can.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Richard-James Dixon, trading as PaceMe ("PaceMe", "we", "us"), for using the PaceMe app and the paceme.co.za website. By creating an account you agree to them, to our Privacy Policy and to our Health Disclaimer. Please read the Health Disclaimer in particular: it limits our responsibility for injuries and health problems.
2. Who can use PaceMe
You must be 18 or older and able to enter into a contract. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens on your account.
3. What PaceMe does
PaceMe builds a running plan from the information you give it, suggests paces and sessions, and adapts the plan as you log your training. The plan is general fitness guidance worked out by software. It is not a personal coach, doctor or physiotherapist, and it cannot see how you feel. You decide whether, how and when to train.
4. The pilot
PaceMe is currently free and invite-only while we test it with a small group. Features may change, and there may be bugs or downtime. We will tell you before PaceMe starts charging, and paid plans will have their own terms shown before you pay.
5. Your content
You own the information you put into PaceMe. You give us permission to store and process it only to run PaceMe for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. Please make sure what you enter is accurate: the plan is only as good as the information it gets.
6. Fair use
Please don't misuse PaceMe. That means not trying to access other people's data, not interfering with how PaceMe works, not copying or reselling the app or its training plans, and not using it for anything unlawful. We may suspend an account that does.
7. Our content
The PaceMe app, website, name, logo, training methods and written content belong to us. You may use them for your own personal training.
8. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app (You, then Delete my account). This deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may close accounts that break these terms, or close PaceMe altogether, with reasonable notice where possible so you can export your data.
9. Our responsibility to you
We provide PaceMe with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and as far as the law allows:
- PaceMe is provided "as is". We don't promise it will be error-free, always available, or that you will reach a particular goal time.
- We are not responsible for injury, illness or other loss that comes from training, unless it is caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct. Training carries risk, and you take part voluntarily.
- We are not responsible for indirect loss, such as missed races, entry fees or travel costs.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 or any other law that cannot be excluded.
10. Changes
We may update these terms as PaceMe grows. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using PaceMe after that, the new terms apply.
11. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by South African law. If something goes wrong, email us first at hello@paceme.co.za and we will try to sort it out. If we can't, the South African courts have jurisdiction.
